Hold up! Before you read this have you read ‘Lying With Pigs’

Paula was warm; pressed into Dani’s side, the women’s sweat caused them to stick together like Velcro. Dani’s head was a mess; her current situation went against everything that she knew to be right.

She was officially one of those cops that’d fallen in the LaVine web.

Lying next to Paula, all Dani could think about was the body pressed against hers, burning her alive. The feeling was maddening; Dani wanted to drown in it.

The slight pressure against her side, every time Paula filled her lungs with air, made Dani wanna pull the other woman impossibly closer, fusing them together. This wasn’t love; not even a strong liking. No, this was a full-fledged obsession.

With black hair fanned out over her chest, Dani attempted to count the little specs on the ceiling.

What the fuck was she going to do? She wasn’t a holder of many secrets; especially not ones that her father wasn’t privy to. Usually when someone said ‘you can’t tell anyone’ to Dani, her father was excluded from the list of  ‘anyones’. Now, here she was, holding the biggest secret from him.

Paula shifted on Dani’s chest, breaking the officer’s spiral.

“Hello detective.” Paula said, lifting her head to look at the other woman.

Was she suddenly okay with all of this? Just a few hours ago Paula was seething with rage, anger and hurt. Now, this was a joking matter?

Dani leaned in, brushing her nose against the other woman’s, breathing her in.

Dani didn’t want to think about the situation they were in.

She didn’t want to think about ethics, or what her father would think of her. She didn’t wanna think about Paula’s job or her own. She didn’t want to think about what her mother would think of her, or what her peers would say. She knew it was wrong; from the moment in the bathroom at the club to being tangled up in these bed sheets, the line had been crossed and she was in so deep she couldn’t even see it anymore.

“Hi.” Dani whispered.

Paula brushed her nose against Dani’s as she gripped her bottom lip between her teeth.

Paula squinted, studying the officer.

“Do you always think this hard?” She asked.

Dani laughed.

“What makes you think I’m thinking hard?” She asked.

Paula shifted on top of the other woman. Folding her hands, she placed her chin on top of them before looking into Dani’s eyes.

“You have this intense, super sexy thinking face.” Paula said.

“Um thanks?” Dani laughed.

“No but seriously. Penny for your thoughts?” Paula said, raising her eyebrows.

Dani scoffed.

“My thoughts are worth way more than a penny.” She said, rolling her eyes.

Paula huffed.

“Daniella! Paula said.

“Actually it’s Daniel. The doc was wrong about the gender and mom and dad really liked the name so they said fuck it.” Dani said.

Paula gave the other woman a pointed look.

“You’re stalling!” Paula said seriously.

“This is wrong.” Dani finally said.

She hadn’t expected the words to fall out like that.

Paula’s face was blank for a moment and Dani couldn’t help but be frightened. Had she upset the other woman? Shit, she really hoped that they wouldn’t have a repeat of yesterday.

“I know. And I’m sorry that I put you in this situation.” Paula said remorsefully.

Now that wasn’t what Dani was expecting to hear. She’d expected the mob boss’s daughter to be offended, maybe even a little sad; but sorry?

“It takes two to tango.” Dani said shrugging.

Paula laid her head back on Dani’s chest, the rhythm of Dani’s heart was like a song stuck on repeat, and Paula was loving it.

“This is true.” Paula said, her lids falling.

They stayed like that for what felt like an eternity and a blink of an eye all at the same time.

“So, hypothetically. You catch my dad and my uncle. What happens next?” Paula asked.

Dani looked down at the woman in her arms. This was weird. While she cared for Paula and could see herself falling for the woman, despite their positions on the opposing sides, she wouldn’t allow anyone or anything to get in the way of stopping the LaVine brothers; especially now that she knew that they were planning on flooding the streets with drugs.

“Are we really going to have this conversation?” Dani asked.

Sugar coating things was never her strong suit.

“I asked, didn’t I?” The other woman said.

Sassy. Dani liked that.

“They go to jail. For a long, long time.” Dani said.

Paula seemed to think for a moment.

“Jail time sounds reasonable for someone who’s pushing kids down the same path that lead their own son to take his life.” Paula said with a nod.

Her eyes were cold and dark; a complete one-eighty from the warm, ocean-like eyes that Dani was used to staring into.

“And what about me?” Paula asked.

The question was like a sock to the gut, pushing all the air out of Dani.

Paula wasn’t stupid. She knew that she played a huge role in her father’s crimes. But did she really have a choice?

Dani lifted her head slightly, rather than answering the question she pressed her lips to Paula’s.

She loved the way Paula kissed her back without thought or hesitation. It was almost as if Paula couldn’t help it; kissing Dani was something she didn’t ever have to think about; like breathing or blinking.

“I don’t want to have to think about that right now.” Dani said.

Paula nodded before Dani covered the other woman’s mouth with her own once more.

Was this wrong? Yes, on so many levels. Did Dani know that this eventually had to come to an end? Of course, she wasn’t an idiot. But while she had the time, Dani wanted to soak it all in.

And she did. Kissing Paula deep and hard, Dani brushed her tongue against the other woman’s, earning a groan from the mob boss’s daughter. Their tongues wrapped around one another and time melted away.

Paula ran her hands up the officer’s back and then back down, nails lightly scratching Dani’s back, Paula couldn’t help but wonder how much of this was pure animal instinct and how much was something deeper than just the physical.

All thoughts of defining what was going on between the two of them left Paula’s mind as Dani slid a hand between her and Paula’s bodies. Trailing light scratches down the other woman’s stomach, Dani’s hand made it’s way between Paula’s legs. Dani’s middle finger slipped into Paula, causing the other woman to sigh into the officer’s mouth. Pumping slow and deep, Dani warmed her up before adding another finger.

What do you think will happen to Paula? As always I hope you’ve enjoyed this installment of The Paula and Dani series. If you did let me know by hitting that star. Also, if you REALLY like this series you can show your support by buying a cup of coffee. Thank you so much, Cephinise.
