HANG ON. BEFORE YOU READ THIS HAVE YOU READ ‘A Long Time Coming‘ ?

Jasmine awoke at seven in the morning, expecting to roll over and find Perry lying beside her, playing with their phone like they usually do. But instead she rolled over to find her partner’s side of the bed empty. Rubbing her eyes, Jasmine sat up.

“Babe?” She called out, thinking maybe Perry was just in the bathroom just off the bedroom.

After being met with silence, Jasmine huffed as she tossed the covers off herself and swung her legs off the bed. It wasn’t until she opened the bedroom door that Jasmine was able to smell the bacon and hear the upbeat pop music.

Venturing out of the room, she made her way to the kitchen where she found Perry sliding around in their socks as they cooked.

“Oh daddy dear you know you’re still number one, but girls just wanna have fun. ” Perry sang into the spatula.

Leaning against the door frame, Jasmine crossed her arms over her chest and watched Perry sing along to the music as if their life depended on it. Then, as Perry began singing the final verse of the song, they quickly spun around only to be startled.

“Jesus Jazz, how long have you been standing there?” Perry asked, a hand over their racing heart.

Jasmine clenched her bottom lip between her teeth, trying her best to hold back her laughter.

“I’m sorry babe, I just woke up and you weren’t next to me so I thought I’d come find you. I didn’t mean to scare you.” She said, stepping closer to Perry.

Turning their back to her, Perry focused their attention back on the food they were making.

“Pff, you didn’t scare me. I was just a bit surprised.” Perry said unconvincingly.

Chuckling, Jasmine gave a small, unconvinced hum as she wrapped her arms around Perry from behind.

“Mhmm, and you didn’t jump ten feet in the air either.” She laughed as she pressed a kiss to the back of Perry’s neck.

Perry mumbled something along the lines of a ‘shut up’ causing Jasmine to laugh. Then, after Perry plated the food, the couple ate before making their way back upstairs. They then stripped out of their pajamas before stepping into the shower where Perry adjusted the temperature of the water before turning around to face Jasmine.

“How are you feeling?” Jasmine asked as Perry soaped Jasmine’s pink loofah.

Perry motioned for Jasmine to turn around, causing Jasmine to think that they were trying to avoid having this conversation, which was fine by her. But as Perry began working the loofa over their girlfirend’s back, they began answering her question.

“I really don’t know how to answer that. There’s so many emotions running through me right now it’s a little hard to describe. But if I had to put it into words I feel busy, like all the cells in my body licked a bunch of nine volt batteries all at once and now I’m just buzzing. Does that make any sense?” Perry asked.

“Kind of. Is the buzzing a good buzzing or more of a bad buzzing?” Jasmine wondered as she turned around.

Perry paused for a moment, seeming to think it over. Then, as they turned around to allow Jasmine to wash their back, Perry finally answered her.

“Definitely good. Most of it’s just nerves.” They explained.

Jasmine gave a humm of understanding before letting the subject drop.

After finishing in the shower, the couple dried off before heading into their bedroom where they changed and made their way downstairs. There, they had breakfast before packing up the car.

“Ready spaghetti?” Jasmine asked as she looked over at Perry.

Gripping the wheel, Perry’s stomach fluttered with what felt like a million and one butterflies.

“Definitely. But can you drive, my stomach’s a mess right now.” Perry said, causing Jasmine to laugh.

After changing seats, Jasmine backed out of the driveway as Perry pressed play on their travel playlist.

‘I come home in the morning light. My mother says when you gonna live your life right? Oh mama dear we’re not the fortunate ones. And girls just wanna have fun.’
